Friends Annual Meeting and Potlock
August 16, 2014 @ 11:30 am - 1:30 pm CDT
Beautiful Weborg Point in Peninsula State Park will be the setting for the annual meeting of the Friends of Peninsula State Park, on Saturday August 16, at 11:30 AM. A picnic potluck lunch will be followed by a short business meeting, which will include a report from Park Superintendent Kelli Bruns, who will share news about the plans for renovation of the historic White Cedar Nature Center.
The Friends welcome the public to join them for the informational program, which begins at 1 PM. Linda Williams, the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources Forest Health Specialist, will speak on “Emerald Ash Borer and Beech Bark Disease in Door County: What to Watch for and What Does it Mean?” Park Superintendent Bruns encourages members of the community to take advantage of this opportunity to learn more about a topic of immediate concern here. “We are fortunate to have such a knowledgeable speaker sharing insights with us,” she said.
Friends board president Chris Holicek encourages fellow Friends to attend this always enjoyable event. “This is a chance for all of the Friends to get an overview of the accomplishments of the past year and the exciting plans for the coming year,” she says.
Friends members and their guests are asked to bring a dish to pass for the lunch. Drinks and hot dogs will be provided. Please RSVP to Gail Anderson at 920-868-3499 or gnanderson@wildblue.net.
