Friends Annual Meeting

August 24, 2013 @ 11:30 am - 3:00 pm CDT

Beautiful Weborg Point in Peninsula State Park will be the setting for the annual meeting of the Friends of Peninsula State Park, on Saturday August 24, at 11:30 AM. A picnic potluck lunch will be followed by a short business meeting, which will include a report from Park Superintendent Kelli Bruns.

Friends board president Chris Holicek encourages fellow Friends to take advantage of this opportunity to be together. “This is a special opportunity for all of the Friends to get an overview of the accomplishments of the past year and the exciting plans for the coming year,” she says.

The Friends welcome the public to join them for the program beginning at 1:15 PM. Jerry Leiterman, the new Northeast District Park Supervisor for the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, will speak about the important relationship between the Friends, the Park, and new initiatives in the Wisconsin state park system. Allison Perrigoue, recipient of the Friends 2013 research grant, will discuss the surprising results of her survey of the dwarf lake iris microhabitat within the park.

Friends members and their guests are asked to bring a dish to pass for the lunch. Drinks will be provided. RSVP to Gail Anderson at 920-868-3499 or gnanderson@wildblue.net.

Parking at Weborg shelter is limited. Carpooling is recommended. Additional parking will be available in the day lot just north of the campground and at Nelson Point. Additional parking is also available at the Fish Creek overflow lot. A Park vehicle sticker is required.
