Family Ski and Snowshoe
January 17, 2015 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm CST
Fish Creek, WI, January 2, 2015 – Everyone is invited to join the Friends of Peninsula
State Park on Saturday, January 17 for a leisurely ski or snowshoe outing on the
Peninsula State Park golf course.
From 10 AM until noon, individuals and families will enjoy skiing on tracked, level
trails or snowshoeing on the course. Cookies and cocoa will be served around the
fireplace in the warming shelter.
Participants of any skill level are encouraged to come. They can bring their own skis
or snowshoes, or rent equipment available at several local businesses. “If you
haven’t tried snowshoeing or cross country skiing, or if you would like some
instruction, bring your equipment and join the fun,” says Michelle Kemp, of the
Friends board.
Chris Holicek, president of the Friends, encourages those who enjoy the outdoors in
winter to participate in this special event, sponsored by Peninsula State Park and its
Friends group. “The wonderful time we have out on the course, with its beautiful
views, is matched by the warm fellowship we enjoy afterward in the shelter,” she
says.
For this event, enter the park at Highland Road, one mile north of Fish Creek at the
intersection of Highway 42 and County Road A, and park in Lot 5. A State Park
vehicle admission sticker is required. Trail passes will not be required for this event.
Please, no pets.
The Family Ski and Snowshoe will be cancelled if weather conditions are
unfavorable. For information, please call Park Headquarters at 920 868-3258 or
visit our website: www.peninsulastatepark.org.
