Highland Trail Head Improvements and Memorial Opportunities

We are nearly complete with MBT Phase 2, which consists of 11.5 miles of mountain bike trails. It should be fully open in late November 2025. With our existing and new trails, our total MBT system will consist of over 20 miles of challenging off-road bike riding adventure. In May 2026, the Friends of Peninsula State Park and the park staff will commemorate the completion of these new mountain bike trails with a special celebration. Visit this space for more details as they evolve.

As we move in to 2026, more improvements to support the bike and ski trails at the Highland Trailhead will begin. These include an outdoor gathering space, trail map and donor monument which will start in Spring that will be followed by an all-season shelter building to be constructed in the near future.

Here’s your opportunity. There will be a limited memorial offering to purchase one of the only eight dedication benches intended for the trails and upgraded Highland Trail Head area. These benches will be available on a first come basis for $7,000 each. Additionally, we will offer memorial plaques for placement at a donor monument that is part of the gathering area. For more information as it develops go to LINK or contact the Friends at manager@peninsulastatepark.org or 920-868-6256.

The next step in the trail head development will be the construction of a year-round shelter. There will be further opportunities for donor recognition on the exterior of the building that will be announced in in the future.

The Highland Trailhead facilities serve cross-country skiers as well as the off-road bike enthusiasts.
