By blazing a new trail and helping to clean up the park we will be making a positive difference in the community and helping to improve our natural environment\, and access to new areas at the same time. Don’t worry if you’ve never done anything like this before because no experience is necessary. All necessary tools and equipment will be provided\, so all you need to bring is your enthusiasm\, some comfortable clothes\, and a reusable water bottle. \n

SUMMARY:Candlelight Ski/Hike - 2019
DESCRIPTION:Peninsula State Park will host a candlelight ski/hike on Saturday\, February 2\, 2019 from 5:30 pm – 8 pm. Skiers and hikers are invited to head out on a one-mile candlelit trail. Snowshoes are also permitted if there is sufficient snow. At the end of the trail\, enjoy a bonfire with refreshments. Participants may wish to bring a small flashlight or headlamp. Pets are not allowed. \nSkiers/hikers should enter at Highland Road (one mile north of Fish Creek at the Highway 42 and County A intersection). The event is free\, but a state park vehicle admission sticker is required. Purchase your sticker at Park Headquarters (open until 7:30 pm)\, the new electronic kiosk at Eagle Terrace\, or the self-registration station on the day of the event. A trail pass is not required for this event. \nThe event will take place even if there is not snow\, but it will be cancelled if there is severe weather such as extreme cold. Access may be restricted if parking capacity is reached. For more information\, or to check the status on the day of the event\, call the park office at 920-868-3258.

DESCRIPTION:Food table at 2013 Annual Meeting\nBeautiful Weborg Point in Peninsula State Park will be the setting for the annual meeting of the Friends of Peninsula State Park\, on Saturday August 16\, at 11:30 AM. A picnic potluck lunch will be followed by a short business meeting\, which will include a report from Park Superintendent Kelli Bruns\, who will share news about the plans for renovation of the historic White Cedar Nature Center. \nThe Friends welcome the public to join them for the informational program\, which begins at 1 PM. Linda Williams\, the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources Forest Health Specialist\, will speak on “Emerald Ash Borer and Beech Bark Disease in Door County: What to Watch for and What Does it Mean?” Park Superintendent Bruns encourages members of the community to take advantage of this opportunity to learn more about a topic of immediate concern here. “We are fortunate to have such a knowledgeable speaker sharing insights with us\,” she said. \nFriends board president Chris Holicek encourages fellow Friends to attend this always enjoyable event. “This is a chance for all of the Friends to get an overview of the accomplishments of the past year and the exciting plans for the coming year\,” she says. \nFriends members and their guests are asked to bring a dish to pass for the lunch. Drinks and hot dogs will be provided. Please RSVP to Gail Anderson at 920-868-3499 or gnanderson@wildblue.net. \nParking at Weborg shelter is limited.\, and carpooling is recommended. Additional parking is available in the day lot just north of the campground and at Nelson Point\, as well as at the Fish Creek overflow lot.
